PRESS RELEASE: UF/IFAS Extension to Host Meet and Connect with Extension Community Open House

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. — Whether residents are new to the area or have lived in the community for years, UF/IFAS Extension Washington County invites the public to discover how local extension programs and services can support them. The "Meet and Connect with Extension" event will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Ag Center East Classroom, located at 1424 Jackson Avenue, Chipley, FL.

The free community event features informational displays, educational materials, and opportunities for participants to meet directly with extension agents specializing in agriculture, natural resources, residential horticulture, family and consumer sciences, and 4-H youth development.

Attendees will have the chance to learn about and register for upcoming hands-on workshops and learning experiences covering home landscapes, lawn care, gardening, pasture health, weed control, wildlife habitats, 4- H opportunities for young people and volunteers, healthy living, and financial wellness.

Featured local extension professionals available to connect with the community include County Extension Director and 4-H Youth Development agent Julie P. Dillard, EdD; Agriculture and Natural Resources agent Mark Mauldin; Family and Consumer Sciences agent Judy Corbus; and Horticulture agent Julie McConnell.

Light refreshments and door prizes will be provided for participants.
